I suoi interessi di ricerca riguardano i Community colleges, la leadership, e i problemi e lo sviluppo della professionalità docente a livello universitario. È impegnata nel Council for the Study of Community Colleges e l’Association for the Study of Community Colleges History Committees; l’ACE Network of Women Leaders in Higher Education, Michigan State Board Member. Svolge attività come revisore per il Journal of Higher Education, Community College Review, Journal About Women in Higher Education.
