Nurten Karacan Özdemir

Dr. Karacan-Ozdemir graduated from the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance of Hacettepe University in 2005. She completed her master and doctoral education in the same department of Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2009 and in 2016, respectively. The subject of her master thesis is about using bibliotherapy for enhancement of self-esteem of 6th grade students. On the PhD thesis, she studied on career adaptability of high school students.

As experienced school counselor with over ten years, she worked at a private course for three years and METU Development and Foundation Schools from 2008 to 2016 as school counselor. More recently, she has joined the faculty at Hasan Kalyoncu University as an assistant professor. She gives offer counseling and guidance courses for undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, she has classes on some topics such as school counseling, counseling with adolescents, individual and group counseling, career counseling and guidance.

On the behalf of the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Education, and Applied Psychology and The LARIOS Laboratory (Laboratory for Research and Intervention in Vocational Designing and Career Counseling), Dr. Nurten Karacan Ozdemir has attended the courses about inclusiveness and graduate lectures in career counseling and guidance, did job shadowing and observations in LARIOS Laboratory and made a presentation about career counseling and guidance studies in Turkey. Has performed under Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Program from 03/04/2017 to 07/04/2017.
